Kings Group Board Chairman Appointed to Tree Crop Development Authority Board

The President Mahama administration has appointed Mr. Kweku Kum, a seasoned accountant and Board Chairman of Kings Group of Companies, as a Board Member of the Tree Crop Development Authority (TCDA).
He represents the Association of Self-Finance Outgrowers (ASFRO) on the Tree Crop Development Authority Board.
This appointment is a significant development for the TCDA, which was established by an Act of Parliament in 2019 to regulate and develop the production, processing, and trading of six tree crops in Ghana, including cashew, shea, mango, coconut, rubber, and oil palm.
As a Board Member, Mr. Kum will play a crucial role in supporting the TCDA's efforts to promote the development of the tree crop sector in Ghana.
The TCDA's mandate includes providing technical advice to farmers, processors, and traders, as well as undertaking research and development to improve the productivity and competitiveness of the sector.
Mr. Kum's experience as a seasoned accountant and his leadership role at Kings Group make him well-suited to lead the TCDA's efforts to promote the economic development of the tree crop sector.
His appointment is expected to bring stability and direction to the TCDA, which has been working to establish itself as a key player in the development of Ghana's tree crop sector.
The TCDA has been established to address the challenges facing the tree crop sector in Ghana, including low productivity, limited access to finance, and inadequate infrastructure.
By providing support to farmers, processors, and traders, the TCDA aims to improve the competitiveness of the sector and increase its contribution to Ghana's economic development.
Mr. Kum prides himself as an ardent farmer with acres of rubber plantation and cassava, and has a vast working experience in tree crop management.
"This appointment represents not just a personal milestone, but an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to Ghana's agricultural development. The tree crop sector has immense potential to transform our economy, and I am committed to working with my fellow board members to realize this vision."
